Stay cool!

Sleep hygiene is a hot topic. Many of us do not get enough sleep -or enough good sleep. Ideally, your body needs 7 1/2-9 hours of high quality sleep (sleep cycles are approximately 90 minutes). In addition to staring at screens up until bedtime, there are other habits that may be setting you up for a poor night’s rest.

Research shows a link between nightmares and warm sleeping environments (heat causes the body to stay in REM sleep too long). The ideal room temperature for sleeping is around 64 degrees (F), give or take a few degrees. So, put on some socks, get under the covers and stop turning up the heat. Your body will thank you.
